Washing & Care Guide

Proper care will help preserve the beauty, texture, and life of your Haniesta rug. As all our rugs are handcrafted using natural fibres, gentle maintenance is recommended.

General Care (All Rugs)

  • Vacuum regularly using low suction
  • Avoid rotating or beater brushes
  • Rotate rug every 3–6 months for even wear
  • Use a rug pad or anti-slip underlay
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight

Wool Rugs

Routine Cleaning

  • Vacuum 1–2 times per week
  • Initial shedding is normal and temporary

Spill & Stain Care

  • Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth
  • Do not rub
  • Use mild wool-safe detergent with cold water
  • Test on an inconspicuous area first

Deep Cleaning

  • Professional cleaning recommended once every 12 months
  • Avoid machine washing or soaking

Flatweave Kilim Rugs

Routine Cleaning

  • Shake outdoors occasionally
  • Vacuum gently on both sides

Spot Cleaning

  • Blot spills immediately
  • Use mild soap and cold water
  • Avoid excessive moisture

Deep Cleaning

  • Professional flatweave cleaning recommended
  • Do not machine wash unless advised by a professional

Jute Rugs (100% Jute)

Important: Jute is highly sensitive to moisture.

Routine Cleaning

  • Vacuum regularly using suction only
  • Shake outdoors when possible

Spill Care

  • Blot immediately with absorbent cloth
  • Avoid water soaking

Cleaning Method

  • Dry cleaning or low-moisture professional cleaning only

Loose Threads & Irregularities

  • Loose threads may appear due to handcrafting
  • Trim with scissors – do not pull
  • Natural variations are not defects

Storage Tips

  • Roll rug – never fold
  • Store in a cool, dry place
